Building of the gravel road along the right bank of the river Tara has just begun at Scepan Polje, near Foca. It is believed that it will enable faster development of rafting tourism and end the problems rafters face during the tourist season. The road is being built by the members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and they have already finished more than 2km out of the predicted 15 km of the road, all the way to the starting point of the most attractive stretches of river for rafting.
it will take about 35 working days for the mechanization of the Armed Forces of BiH to complete this infrastructure project. This way crossing the border with Montenegro on the way to rafting will be avoided, and since this road follows the old route of the Dubrovnik road "via Ragusa", the journey to the starting point of rafting will be an attraction on its own!
Contractors and the municipality of Foca have promised that this section will be finished by the end of July, of course, if the weather and other circumstances allow it.
This road might also boost the return of rural population to the estates in the area, to get involved in agriculture related to rafting.
