RAFTING CENTER DRINA-TARA PAYS SPECIAL ATTENTION TO MAXIMUM SECURITY AND COMFORT. WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL IN THIS AREA IS THE BEST TEAM OF RAFTING SKIPPERS, CANYONING GUIDES AND MOUNTAIN GUIDES!
WE CAN OFTEN HEAR OUR GUESTS’ REMARKS ABOUT “RAFTING NOT BEING SO SCARY'' AND THAT THEY DESIRE TO TRY IT AGAIN BUT WITH A GREATER WATER LEVEL. WE CONSIDER SUCH COMMENTS OUR BIGGEST SUCCESS AND A PROOF THAT OUR EQUIPMENT, OUR GUIDES, AND OUR SKIPPERS DO THEIR WORK THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE!
RAFTING EQUIPMENT FOR THE ADVENTURE ON THE RIVER TARA
The most important and one of the two mandatory pieces of equipment is a safety vest that provides buoyancy in case the person gets in the water. There are accurate safety regulations on the strength of safety belts. Our belts are still made by order and each one of them greatly exceeds the capacity of these regulations. Our safety vests have the best possible design which enables comfortable use and great functionality when on the surface or pulling out of the water. Our belts are made from the best materials available- CORDURA.
The second mandatory piece of equipment is a helmet for rafting. Every guest receives and is obliged to have a helmet as a head protection in case of falling into the water. Helmets are made of elastic, highly durable plastic with comfortable filling that can be immersed in water.
Another piece of equipment our guests get is not included in the mandatory equipment, but for comfort and protection from the cold is a must. These are neoprene suits, neoprene shoes and in extreme conditions- anoraks or rain jackets.
Neoprene suits are one of the best brands- Hiko, and are of high quality and very durable. The suits are sleeveless with long legs and purposely made for rafting. They provide protection from cold water as well as from bumps etc. Neoprene shoes with thermal lining protect against cold because the feet are in the water most of the time.
Anorak or rain jacket is worn mainly when temperatures are low or it is very rainy.
EQUIPMENT IS MADE ACCORDING TO EU STANDARDS
When it comes to canyoning the equipment is similar as for rafting. The canyoning guests also get rock-climbing harnesses and neoprene jackets. The shoes for canyoning are somewhat more robust than footwear for rafting because there is much more walking.
OUR LICENSED SKIPPERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFETY
Our skippers for rafting are without competition in the Tara Canyon, and, we dare to say, in this part of the world! They are licensed by the IRF (International Rafting Federation) and by the Ministry of the Republic of Srpska. What is more important than licensing is, of course, their experience. Our skippers have an average of over 150 days of rafting every year and this is what makes them the best. Our skippers speak Serbian and English and there are also some who speak Italian and German. What makes them stand out is a friendly attitude towards guests, kindness and patience.
A very important part of rafting is a safety briefing, which takes place before the start of rafting. The safety speech includes instructions for behavior on the boat, sitting, rowing and action in unforeseen circumstances.
Our canyoning guides are the guys who were the first in our country to get a license for canyoning! They are extremely skilled, physically prepared and have personally explored some of unexplored canyons.
YOU GET EQUIPMENT FOR RAFTING AND CANYONING BEFORE ACTIVITIES
After breakfast, guests can go to the object with the equipment where our guides, skippers give them proper equipment and point them briefly into how the equipment is put on and used. Afterwards guests can change into their gear in their bungalows or cabins and are ready for the starting point for rafting.
