Hiking– a walk in nature
Besides rafting, one of the most popular outdoor activities. The Sutjeska National Park is known as a reserve of true wilderness along with mountains Maglic and Zelengora, Perucica primeval forest (the only primeval forest in Europe), Trnovacko lake, lakes of Zelengora, Tjentiste, the Sutjeska canyon...
Our most popular hiking tour includes 4x4 safari and the tour of the Perucica primeval forest and Skakavac waterfall (over 80m high) in the first part of day. Then we arrive to the ‘katuns’ at the Prijevor mountain pass where we leave the vehicles. We walk 2 to 3 hours to a beautiful glacier lake at the foothill of Maglic. The heart-shaped Trnovacko Lake with its everlasting glaciers on the ridges is known as the most beautiful lake of the Balkans. We can spend there from half an hour to up to 2 or 3 hours, depending on our guests’ wishes and weather conditions. The return to our Rafting Center Drina-Tara is around 7 p.m.
The hiking tour on Zelengora is also a very common choice. The quest to this mountain includes climbing all its peaks and it lasts almost as the Trnovacko Lake hiking. All the hiking tours include lunch packets or lunch in nature as they are all day long. This hike is relaxed and does not require any special fitness conditions.
Besides these popular tours we also offer more demanding tours like climbing Maglic (the highest mountain in BiH) and Durmitor (the highest mountain of Montenegro). Both of these mountains are near our Rafting Camp which makes us a perfect base for complex hike activities like these. Still, we should stress that the tours on Trnovacko Lake and Zelengora are less demanding but more interesting, more accessible and definitely the best choice for the regional hike tours.
We can offer you a more demanding tour to the top of Ljubisnja mountain, well known among mountaineers but still not discovered by tourists or popular as other hiking destinations. Ljubisnja mountain is located on the right border of the Tara canyon and it guarantees that you will remember walking in this natural environment for a long time as a true joy.
